Top Tips for Fast-Tracking Your Kitchen Renovation in Time for Christmas
Christmas is just around the corner and now is the perfect time to get that kitchen renovation done before family and friends converge on your house and your pantry. But there is already so little time in the week with commitments to work and leisure greatly slowing down the renovation process. It can almost seem like having your kitchen ready in time for the holidays is an achievement to mirror that of Santa getting through every one of the world’s chimneys on Christmas Eve.
If you are short of time but need that new oven installed for the ham and new bench in place for managing the epic food proportions for the day, here are some quick tips to speeding up your kitchen renovations:
Naturally, it is vital for you to have a finalised design ready for when you go to work on creating your new kitchen. You cannot just go in with hammers blazing and expect to build a kitchen of Grand Designs’ standard. Be prepared with a sound design that has been agreed upon by all parties involved in the renovation.
Use a Kitchen Designer
As exciting as the renovating process can be, and as much as we want all the creative licence over our own project, time constraints make it necessary to contact an experienced kitchen designer. A registered, talented designer will be able to come out to your property and provide you with a design that you can be truly happy with, and you won’t have to stress about the layout yourself.
Trying to concoct a design yourself without experience in the field can be a difficult task, and will only further slowdown the process. You don’t want to be coming up to Christmas still caught in two minds about where to place the new refrigerator, cabinet location and what style of oven you want for cooking that Christmas feast. Allow an expert to do the work for you – they know the ins and outs of creating stunning designs and in small periods of time.
Work with What You’ve Got
Your pre-existing kitchen structure is your friend, and you can speed up the process if you use what you already have available in the space. You can keep certain elements of the kitchen in place including plumbing and flooring as you may find that you don’t need to redo these elements – your builder can simply work around them.
- Plumbing – If you already have a plumbing system in place that you are happy with and does not need relocating or remodelling, why change it? Unnecessary reworking of the plumbing system will have your renovation moving at a snail’s pace. Therefore, if it’s not imperative for you to rework the plumbing, simply don’t do it. Your builder will know exactly what to do in terms of working around the plumbing system.
- Structures – Benches, cabinets, draws, pantries and other structures don’t necessarily have to be replaced by new structures. For example, if you were thinking of replacing a whole pantry because you weren’t happy with its design, your builder can simply add new elements (coats of paint, extra compartments) until you are happy with its design. This way you won’t have to spend hours removing and installing new storage space.
- Flooring – If you are starting to become really short of time but still want to lay down a stunning new kitchen floor, it is wise to choose a style that is easy to install. Styles such as roll-out and plank flooring are quick and easy to have installed, as well as being a stylish and more affordable option.
Use High Quality Pre-Assembled Cabinetry
Because you don’t want to spend days assembling your own cabinets only to find out that hey, maybe it’s a good thing you’re not a qualified cabinet maker. Purchasing high quality pre-assembled cabinets make this element of renovation simple. All you have to do is purchase them, have them installed in the location you desire and voilà – you have beautiful, spacious new cabinets ready for storing all your Christmas delights. We design, build and install beautiful cabinets to help simplify and speed up the renovation process.
